measurements are 60" x 60".  It has 274 pieces, however in the

it is easy to follow.  I pieced and sewed this on my home sewing machine,

Adding Angles to Blocks

Adding Angles to Blocks

When a pattern shows these angles,

we use squares, place them right sides together on the square

and mark the sewing line,

 sew, trim and press.

Adding rectangles is a little more difficult but here goes.   Mark the edge of the seam allowance on the block and the rectangle.

Line up the two pieces, sew and press.

Prairie Points

Prairie Points

This finishing technique can really dress up your quilt.

1.  Cut 3 inch strips in the lengths that you require.  Fold each strip in half and press.

2.  Open strip up and on the wrong side of the fabric mark on the right side of fold, mark from fold to outer edge a line every 3 inches on the other side mark the first one 1 1/2 inch in and then 3 inch spaces.

3. Cut the 1 1/2 inch square off, and then cut on the lines for the rest.

4. With the wrong side up fold the top corners down to create triangles and the bottom ones up to also create triangles.  Press.

5.  Fold the tips of all these triangles down to create another smaller triangle.  Fold back row triangle to front and fold front triangles to the back.  Press.  Fold the bottom half up to the top.

6.  Baste along the bottom edge.

7.  To attach trim the batting so that the seam allowance is empty.  Fold quilt backing over batting and under the front.  Fold the front under and press.  Place the prairie points between the front and back and pin in place.  Sew.

Burmese Mountain Dog

Bermese Mountain Dog

The Burmese Mountain dog is a faithful, fun loving dog with amazing fur colours.

This pattern makes a block that is 22 x 20 and I have included sizing for
pillow, baby, twin and queen.

I used a different textured black for the nose, mouth and eyes so that they would
stand out from the black fur.  This is an easy pattern to make with colour
diagrams to follow.

Introduction

Hello

My name is Inger Ivo and I am the owner of The Rural Quilter.   I sew and create original designs for quilts.  Sewing is something I have done since I was 10 years old and we won't go into how long ago that was.  However with a sewing and art background I have discovered the perfect combination of my skills and interests.  I live in rural Ontario, Canada with my husband.  My first quilt was made more than 30 years ago, now that I am at the empty nest stage in life I have the time and energy to devote to creating quilts.
