 Christmas Quilts

Woven Hearts are and important part of a
Scandinavian Christmas and used to decorate the tree and
garlands hung around the house.  They are traditionally
filled with treats.  The exact age and origin is unknown
but the oldest preserved Christmas Heart was
made by Danish author Hans Christian Anderson
in 1860.

Christmas ornaments were first manufactured by glass
blower Hans Greiner, and they were shaped as fruit
and nuts in the late 1840's.  Then they slowly shifted to
spherical shapes and became mass produced.
Both of these quilts were pieced and quilted on my home
sewing machine using traditional methods
and were created by me.  They measure 82 x 82 inches
and have 6 colours.  It is a PDF pattern and is
available on my Esty site.

Abstract Vines

This quilt was a special request  from a relative that had redone her house, so she wanted

a throw for her couch to match.   Her stipulations were to use grey and red and

an abstract overall pattern.  This is what she got!!

This clean, crisp design can be made in a multitude of colors and backgrounds

including a monochromatic.  It is an easy quilt to make, you just have to

follow the colors.

This is PDF pattern that includes sewing diagrams, a complete list of fabrics
required, cutting and assembly instructions as well as a coloring page so that you
can place your own colours.

 Sunflower Quilt

Sunflowers and sunshine means its summer.  The Inca's used sunflowers to symbolize their Sun God and brought them to the temples.  Then came the 60's and sunflowers got linked to Hippies and free spirits.  Now matter how you look at it Sunflowers make you smile.

The finished size of the quilt is 70" x 80" and uses 6 different colours.  The pattern is broken into smaller easier to handle pieces.

This is a PDF pattern and has to be downloaded.

Modern Tulip

 Modern Tulip

The most common meaning for tulip is perfect love.  I love the modern feel of this quilt

you can make all  the tulips in three shades of one colour or use a combination of

tulip colours to create a truly spring quilt.  It also works with non-tulip colors as you

can see in the drawing below.

The finished block size is 8" x 8" and the quilt finishes at 48" x 64"
and uses 5 colors with a total number of 304 pieces.

This quilt is sewn using traditional methods on a home sewing machine, and can

be quilted using either Quilt As You Go methods or in the traditional manner.

 Euro - Flower  Quilt

My Scandinavian background has exposed me to the colors that they use in folk-art
and the clean crisp lines of the work.  I used their colors when creating
this quilt so that I could achieve a bright, happy quilt.

I liked to alternate the colors in the four patches
between red and yellow to make them pop.  The blocks measure 9" x 9" and each
contain 33 pieces and 5 colors in total are used.

The PDF pattern includes sewing diagrams, list of fabrics, cutting and assembly instructions.

The pattern includes crib, throw, twin, Queen and King sizes.
